Tenant Participation
The Tenant Participation Worker is a new post within GYHA whose role is to promote tenant participation within the organisation.
This means developing strategies and mechanisms that ensure all of the young people using our services have a very real and
meaningful opportunity to contribute to the services delivered to them.

The Get Cooking Project - Closed
Sadly the Get Cooking Project which was launched in June 2004 has had to close due to funding issues.
The project has been run in a purpose built kitchen at Acorn House by Diana Gaskins.
During the last four years it has provided hands on cookery skills to nearly 60 young
people aged 16 – 25. Over half of those attending have completed the Get Cooking course consisting 6 x 2 hour
practical sessions. Those completing the course have been awarded a certificate in recognition of the skills and
knowledge they have gained. Many others have been involved in one off or themed cooking sessions.
An exit survey of clients who had completed the Get Cooking course showed that all of
them would have liked to take part in more sessions if they had the opportunity. More than 93% eat more healthily as
a result of the scheme and 80% said that it had resulted in them having better cooking skills and greater confidence
in their cooking ability.
GYHA are very sorry to lose the scheme and are extremely grateful to Diana Gaskins for
all her dedication and hard work.
